What is a monofilament wig?

A monofilament wig is a wig that is specially designed to give the apperance of a scalp with hair growing of it. It presents for a natural look and allows the wearer more styling option because they can part the hair in any direction.The word mono refers to the transparent lace material that is used to line the crown area of the wig cap. When a person wears a flesh colored wig cap or liner under the wig, the look is as close as you can get to the real thing.When a monofilament wig is feather extension made, the crown area is lined with an area lace material ranging from 2x3 inches to 4x5 inches on the top of the cap. Some wigs even have an area as small as 1x2 inches and these are often referred to as mono crowns. The full mono caps are only made with human hair as they are more expensive and harder to make.
